Trumpet in Jerusalem
Listen
Good morning and greetings in Jesus’ name! Welcome to this amazing new day. I do believe that you’re taking time to celebrate. You’re taking time to decorate your homes. You’re taking time to give gifts, receive gifts, do everything possible to enjoy this special season that we are in. There is one thing that we need to remember and keep in mind whenever we gather together. Our fellowship together, our prayer together, our declarations together our confession of God’s word, our prophesying, whatever we declare out in the spirit realm and in the physical realm, they carry a lot of significance. The seasons can shift based on what we speak. The seasons can be accelerated based on what we speak. The seasons can come to a halt based on what we speak.
Let me take you to the book of Joel 2:1. This is a prophet. He’s speaking a prophetic message to the nation of Israel. He says, “Sound the trumpet in Jerusalem! Raise the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everyone tremble in fear because the day of the LORD is upon us.” This is the prophet telling the old testament believers to release this prophetic trumpet voice in the city of Jerusalem. When we come into the new testament, when we understand what Jesus has done for us, we know that You and I the church – We are the new Jerusalem. You and I the church – We are the elevated holy mountain. And this is what God wants us to do in our fellowship. This is what God wants us to be intentional about, He says, “Sound the trumpet. Let there be a unique voice that will come out whenever you come together.” I want to ask you what is it that is released when you get together with your friends? When do you get together with your church family? What comes out of it? What is the result of your gathering? Is it just that you had a good time singing some songs? Did you learn a few more verses in scripture? You were able to get some more people into your church? Or did your gathering together create an impact on the world around you? My hope is that we will not be unaware. We will not be ignorant. We will not be unknowledgeable about the value of our worship, the value of our intercession, the value of our prophetic declarations. When you get together this Christmas when you are hanging out with your friends and your family members don’t ignore the spirit world around you. The Lord is saying sound a trumpet when you are just chilling with your best friend, sound a trumpet. It could be just that one song that you sing together and worship the Lord. It could just be a few verses that you read together and you believe in it and you stand on it and you just agree together on that. It could just be five minutes that you would spend that evening to just seek the Lord and to enter into his presence. Just that action, that step that you take is you sounding the trumpet in Jerusalem. You’re honouring the presence of God in your assembly. You’re honouring the presence of the Lord in your gathering, in your oneness, in your fellowship, and whenever you do that, it is a statement to the world around you.
It says that you have to raise the alarm on my holy mountain. So there are two types of people here. The first are the ones that are going to sound the trumpet. The second is the people who are going to hear the trumpet. For the ones who are sounding the trumpet – It’s a time of celebration. It’s a time of joy. It is the time of drawing close to the king of kings and the Lord of Lords, drawing close to their father, drawing close to their master. But for those that are hearing the trumpet call those who are on the receiving end of this sound. For them, it is alarming. For them, it is a sign of what they are about to miss. For them, it is a sign of what is lacking in their life. Some of them will cause them to repent. Some of them, It will cause them to be broken. Some of them will cause them to fall face down before God, and some of them may even run away from such an alarm. Others may even ignore or ridicule this alarm. Either way, it is necessary that there will be a sound. There will be a trumpet, an alarm that will be sounded every time you’re in Jerusalem, every time you climb that mountain. It says that it is going to cause everyone to tremble in fear. Some will fear because of their reverential love and respect for God. For His nearness, for His presence, for His holiness, His greatness. Some will fear because they don’t want anything to do with God. They want to run away from God. They want to stay out of God’s presence, and that fear is going to be a unique factor for each and every person who hears this voice and who releases this voice. One group will do it out of love, and one group will do it out of being scared of this God of greatness, this God of glory. And it says because the Day of the Lord is upon us, The day of the Lord, the time of the Lord, the season of the Lord. I am not saying the day of blessing is upon us. I’m not saying the Day of victories is upon us. I am not even saying the day of revival is upon us. I am saying that the Day of the Lord is upon us. How many of you will receive this. How many of you will celebrate this season like you are celebrating the day of the Lord. I want your conversations to be filled about the day of the Lord, I want your prayers to be filled with the same. I want your declarations to be filled with the same. And may the Lord make you a testimony, a witness, an ambassador, where ever you are placed by the Lord.
When you honour the presence of God, it is a statement to the world around you. Share on XFather, we thank you for You are causing us to be trumpet blowers. You are causing us to be alarm sounders. You are causing us to be the ones who will Cause the world around us to tremble in respect and fear of who You are because we know we are in the day of the Lord. Help us to be faithful to this season, faithful to Your call in our life, faithful to Your will for our life. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
