Clothed in Jesus

Good Morning and Greetings in Jesus name. I pray that today we will continue to grow closer to Jesus, to become more like Him; we will aim and keep this as our destiny that we want to become more like Jesus, we wanna talk and live like Jesus, we want to exercise the authority and the power and the dominion that Jesus had; we want to be the representative of Jesus here on the earth. For that to happen, we need to continuously, intentionally, consciously put on the characteristic of Jesus in our life every day. It can be in our finances, relationships, career choices, in the way that we pursue our Father in heaven; in everything we need to put on the characteristics of Jesus.

Apostle Paul gives us encouragement in Romans 13:14. He says, “Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” When he writes Romans chapter 13, he is listing a lot of areas in a Christian life that can be compromised, tempted, challenged, tested by the enemy, world, people and by our own flesh. He says we need to runway from these things and instead, we need to clothe ourselves with the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Apostle Paul just doesn’t tell us to avoid sin, what are the sin’s to avoid, but he is telling us to instead clothe ourselves with Jesus. If we have to look like Jesus here on earth, if we have to represent His love and grace then we need to actively clothe ourselves with Jesus, put on the characteristics of Jesus in our life. It is something that you will understand and grow in when you read the scriptures, worship and pray with the perspective that you want to be clothed with His presence. that you want to be like Him, you want to imitate Him, you want to represent Him. Jesus is the focus of your life; sin is not, Satan is not, demons and spirits of this world are not, all our temptation, struggles and worries are not our focus. Jesus is our focus of worship, prayer, bible reading, fellowshipping with people in church. We have to change our perspective that our focus is not to avoid sin but to clothe ourselves with the presence of Jesus. There are so many keys and principles that will open up to us. We will begin to not only avoid garbage but we will be able to build ourselves on good things. We will begin to stand on the love of God, we will begin to activate the power of the Holy Spirit in us to not just withstand temptation, but to now exercise holiness, purity, love, joy, patience and the blessings that the Lord has already deposited inside of us.

Today can you clothe yourself with the presence of Jesus Christ. We cannot ignore the second part. Paul further says that we do not have to indulge in evil desires. These desires will keep lurking around you, either through people, television, money. These evil desires will try popping up at different times of your life. What we can do is not to give apace to it in our minds, because in our minds we are focused on how to clothe ourselves with the presence of Jesus.
