Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field. – James 1:9-10 NLT

Usually, we would think that our promotion is all about our physical circumstances but the more that we study the scripture we understand that our true promotion is the things that we experience and we receive in the spirit. Our spiritual position has to manifest in the physical but irrespective of where our physical position is we are still celebrated, accepted and honored in the spiritual world.
Our true promotion is in the things that we experience and receive in the spirit. Share on X
When we read James 1:9 in the Amplified Bible, it says, “Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position [as a born-again believer, called to the true riches and to be an heir of God].”
That is where a poor person or somebody who is living in humble circumstances receives his identity, position, and inheritance, and it is all in the spirit world.
The bible says he needs to be proud, and he needs to have something to boast about because he has been honored, celebrated and exalted by Heaven.
In the Amplified Bible, James 1:10 says “the rich man is to glory in being humbled [by trials revealing human frailty, knowing true riches are found in the grace of God], for like the flower of the grass he will pass away.”
Here, God is speaking about the rich people, and He says the rich people’s boasting also needs to be in their relationship with God and it cannot be in their possessions. Just like the flowers and grasses fade away, so will the rich man’s life, finances, and possessions. He should have the grace to give away 100% of his wealth and walk away detached from what he owns and just be willing to live for the Lord.
According to James 1: 9-10, it may come easy for the poor to glory in their relationship with God; however, it is also required for the rich to live a life of the same stature where their identity, security, position, and the way they view themselves and exalt the things in their life has to be because of their relationship with God and it cannot be because of the wealth or the possessions that they have.
Today in whatever area of your life you are feeling that you are rich or poor, can you refuse to put your identity in those things and put your identity in your relationship with God.
If you would do that, you would see how every aspect of your life will follow suit and will acknowledge the true riches that you have because of your relationship with God.
