Outstanding Leaders
Listen
The Lord wants to remind us how much He has planned and purposed us to influence the world around us. It is not just enough that we live our lives in a way that we are satisfied with, but it is necessary that we now become a reason for the world around us to be blessed.
In the above verse, we see that 26,000 men were select for service from the entire tribe of Asher. These 26,000 are a group of people that dedicated themselves to serving, not living for themselves and serving themselves but selected to protect the nation and serve God’s people. There was militia from other tribes as well, except Levi. But the peculiar quality we see is that, from the tribe of Asher, these 26,000 were ‘select’ men. Men who were approved and hand-picked, those with outstanding leadership and might. They were trained, specifically selected for a particular purpose.
We need to ask ourselves how often do we pay attention to the purposes of God in our lives, to the extent that we would be willing to lay ourselves down or train ourselves for that particular purpose which God has handpicked us and called us for.
Not only were they selectmen but they were also mighty warriors. They had a history of winning, of coming back with victory from their battles.
It’s not enough that we imitate our leaders in the preparation and training for battle, but we must put ourselves on the line to serve and fight the battle. Share on XOnly if we put ourselves into the battlefield and go through the challenges, the ups and downs, the battles that would cost us, only then could we possess the title of a “Mighty Warrior”.
The other title given among the 26,000 were that they were outstanding leaders, those who are willing to set an example for others to follow. Not only did they prepare themselves to put their lives on the line but also come back victorious and influence others to become mighty, inspire leadership qualities and emerge victorious from their battles.
Let us be approved men and women of God who are willing to fight battles with might, with leadership, emerging victorious and influencing those around us to do the same.
