Balance of Life
Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
James 2:18 NLT

Transcript:
Apostle James tries to demolish an argument that some people may have faith and some may have good works whereas the Lord want us to have both.
The difference between Mary and Martha was that Martha was occupied whereas Mary stayed to listen to Jesus and what happens when we stay to hear God’s voice is that our faith grows and we are able to grow to our next level of faith.
Now do we need more people like Mary or more like Martha? We do need both people who will have faith, grow in their faith & remain rooted and also people who will use that faith and the teaching and blessing received and minister to the poor, sick and those in darkness and bring them to the feet of Jesus where we receive our nourishments from.
When we want to be a Mary and compromise on being a Martha or if we want to be a Martha and compromise being a Mary, that is when we become extremes. The Lord is calling us as His Bride/children into a life/season of balance and live in it. Hence we cannot say we are all about one or two areas of our faith walk and leave out the others, each are equally necessary. If you miss your balance of life, you have missed everything.
For some of us we may naturally be a Mary hence the need to find a Martha to learn from and grow with and as a Martha, find a Mary who sits at the feet of Jesus constantly to learn and grow. We all need each other to balance and rub off our special qualities and abilities into our neighbour.
May we find people who are doing the right thing that will help us grow in the sense of balance.
