If we want to live a life that is pleasing to Jesus, then we have to become spiritual in nature, because, the flesh doesn’t have the capacity. Apostle Paul says in II Corinthians 5:16, that we have developed our habit to interpret everything around us, only on the basis of the knowledge of our flesh. Yes, the flesh is part and parcel of our life. God created us with flesh and yet we are not physical beings but spiritual beings. The spirit aspect in us was dead until we accepted Jesus.
We are used to satisfying our flesh in all different ways. But, those who are in Christ and have experienced him, cannot do things according to the flesh. In all our decisions and choices, we must discern wisely. We must be intentional to avoid our natural reactions and stop depending on our own wisdom and understanding. We have to be dependent on the ability that our spirit gives us. We should be led and empowered by the spirit. When we begin to depend on anything other than the Holy Spirit, we are actually driven by our flesh. We can love God with our flesh but it cannot please God. To please God, it requires us to disconnect from flesh and stand in the ability of our spirit. It will create a new channel of communication between us and our spirit. We can still worship God in our flesh. But the kind of worship God likes is when we do it in spirit and truth. God wants us to have a relationship with him that is built on our spirit man. Refuse to regard God in our physical ability, instead, follow the guidance of the spirit.
