Lock the Door
Matthew 23:13 GNT
“How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You lock the door to the Kingdom of heaven in people’s faces, but you yourselves don’t go in, nor do you allow in those who are trying to enter!”

God has entrusted every believer with the responsibility of sharing His truth with others. But just as important as what we say is how we say it. In Matthew 23:13, Jesus warns against becoming like the Pharisees, who knew God’s Word but failed to reflect His heart. Through their pride and harshness, they discouraged people who were genuinely seeking God instead of helping them draw closer to Him.
This is an invitation to examine our own attitudes when we speak to or minister to others. While truth should never be compromised, it must always be communicated with the same grace, compassion, and mercy that God has shown us. Condemnation pushes people away, but love creates room for transformation. Our words and actions should point people toward Jesus, not make them feel unworthy of His grace.
May we represent God’s heart before we speak His truth. Instead of becoming obstacles, may we encourage, strengthen, and gently lead others closer to Christ, reflecting the same love and mercy that He has so generously extended to us.

Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
