We been studying on persistence and prevailing prayer we began this week by studying how Jesus himself taught us to persistently pray, and continually pray without giving up, ask and keep on asking seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking.
we read this story where Jesus is talking about shameless persistence of his friend who was knocking on the door and saying unless you give me bread I’m not going away. We also understood from another verse that Jesus expected us to cry out night and day without giving up, without stopping praying.
In Matthew 15:27, this gentile woman who is talking to Jesus who has come to seek healing for her daughter and Jesus replied saying “I don’t think that’s in my plan”. The time that god gave me on earth does not necessarily include you at an another instance Jesus said at a marriage feast at Cana to his mother “Women don’t you know my time has not come yet” he was not planning to do any miracle he was not even planning to change water into wine it was not in his agenda but when Mary persisted Jesus ended up doing it.
In context to the above scripture the women first asked for miracle and healing and she prayed and requested and. When the answer did not come she continued to pray, in fact Jesus said “I was sent only for the lost sheep of Israel” and the lady replied and said don’t you know that even dogs have the rights to eat the crumbs that falls from the masters table.
Jesus said no to her twice but this was God testing to see how desperate she is for her miracle and breakthrough. she continued to pursue God and not willing to give up and so we have to salute the faith of this women and the fact that she didn’t give it up that easily.
In our daily life we have get offended at lot of occasions that we have lost our persistence but can we imagine this women would have lost life time of blessing if she got offended with God, the enemy’s trick is to just get us offended with God. So many times we get offended when we see God didn’t not do something specific for us and forget to see that God is waiting to see your persistence, God is waiting to see if you are willing to be humble yourself and say God I don’t care what it takes I need my breakthrough I need to live my life to the fullest of what you have prepared planned for me.
If you will pray and desire that today and say I chose not to be offended and give up and not to withdraw this time, we are sure this is what God will reply and say “Great is your faith it will be done for you as you desire” The persistence of your faith and prayer can never go unnoticed by Jesus.
Be persistent in your prayer today have a great and blessed day ahead!
