Give You Pleasure
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

Whenever we come to God’s presence, if we are expecting God to do the right things in our lives, we should not waste such encounters with God. In this season we need wisdom to ask for the right things, because if we do not ask for the right things we will waste our encounters.
What can we do to purify our motives and prepare our hearts before we come to the presence of God? What do we constantly meditate on, read on and converse on? These are automatically a depiction of the desires of our hearts.
If our prayer requests are all about things that will bring pleasure to us, then there is a need for repentance because the Bible says these kind of prayer requests are of selfish motives.
Our prayers & dreams shouldn’t be about us. God does use us as channels of glory and blessing to nations but however it is not always about what we want to do, like to do or enjoy doing. Eventually we have to take pleasure in doing what brings pleasure to God.
When we want to bring pleasure to ourselves, it could be about doing the right things such as worship or if it is for self pleasure or to feel good, it may end as a purposeless one. When we are asking for the right things with the wrong motives, audience or direction then our prayers will not be answered.
We need to ask God for how to pray: ask Him how does our prayer bring pleasure to Him. If we would do things with a heart that desires to bring pleasure to God, then we will not have another unanswered prayer in our lives.
In this season, in every prayer we pray, let us ask God how our prayer requests bring glory to Him.
