Knowledge of His Will
Colossians 1:9 GNT
For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will, with all the wisdom and understanding that His Spirit gives.”
So often we think that prayer is us going to God and asking Him what we want or desire and expect Him to remedy those areas of our life with His divine touch, but God’s understanding about prayer is completely different. God is not waiting up there to just fulfil every want, need or greed of ours.
Here is a prayer that Paul prayed for the church at Colossae, from the chapter 1:9.
He says prayer is not temporary thing, it has to be a constant pattern of living
He prays two things for the church:
- First, that the church be filled with the knowledge of God’s will for their lives.
- Second, that it will be filled with wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.
It’s not enough to only have the knowledge of God’s will but you also need the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives to be able to walk on the will of God for your life. But if your heart is numb to the move of the Holy Spirt, then you will not be able to receive the same from the Spirit and therefore end up making mistakes in life.
Today, hope you have both the knowledge of God’s will and the wisdom and understanding of the Holy Spirt for your life today.
