Moses & Elijah
Mark 9:4 LEB
And Elijah appeared to them together with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
In this season it is necessary for us to stand in the gap for the land we live in to declare God’s heart and mind over the land. And it is also necessary to know what and how God wants us to pray.
Often we think that prayer is all about our communication with God and we don’t want to let anyone instruct us on how to pray.
During one of Jesus’ regular time of seeking God the Father, the Bible says that He received help in His prayer time as Elijah and Moses appeared to Him.
Several times throughout the scriptures we see these divine encounters that people had when they were praying, for example, where Cornelius was praying and an angel appeared to him and gave him a word. In the Old Testament, Daniel was praying and angel came down to give Him a word. We see that many times when we are praying God will give us inspirations through different sources. But so often we think that we don’t need our relationship with people in order to grow in our prayer walk.
And here we see an example of how Jesus Himself needed help from Moses and Elijah when it came to praying and talking to the Father and in preparing Him for the next season of life.
Its not that we should have another mediator between yourself and Jesus, because there is no body else who died for you. However, God had divinely appointed the leaders, especially the shepherds who watch over your souls and give an account to God for you. And so you have the moral and spiritual obligation to receive the prophetic advice when it comes to praying for the things that they want us to pray.
Sometimes the advice might not seem spiritual, but if you obey, there is a grace that comes upon your prayer life when you heed the instruction.
In this context Moses represents the law and Elijah the prophets. When Lazarus was in the bosom of Abraham and the rich man from hell pleaded him to send Lazarus to his brothers, but Abraham replied that they have the law and the prophets whom they need to listen to.
In this season may we become intentional listening to the law which is the written word of God and the prophets, the preachers of the word of God, and we will heed and pay attention to their instructions and every word that is spoken over our lives and hold on to the word and pray actively and aggressively pursuing the heart and the mind of God.
