Open Hostility
Genesis 25:18 NLT
Ishmael’s descendants occupied the region from Havilah to Shur, which is east of Egypt in the direction of Asshur. There they lived in open hostility toward all their relatives.
Today start your day by surrendering your body, soul and your spirit at the feet of Jesus.
Pastor Amit Kamble once shared that “the highest place that you can ever reach is at the feet of Jesus.”
Our success is not in how many nations we travelled or how much famous we are, but our success is us being at His feet. Share on XThe bible speaks about Abraham and Hagar, where the promised child was from Abraham and Sarah and since Abraham thought it as impossible he became intimate with Hagar and she gave birth to Ishmael.
The verse says the descendants of Ishmael lived in open hostility. This happened because one man was not sensitive to how God had planned for his life, but it in turn created problem for themselves.
Question: Where is your primary devotion? Is it at your workplace, in the arms of your lover or at the feet of Jesus?
If your devotion is not at the feet of Jesus then you would be giving birth to the Ishmael’s in your life. Share on XThe problem with the Ishmael’s is that it may bring immediate joy and satirisation but eventually
– you may throttle the plan and purpose of God,
– bring barriers to the covenant that He has made in your life
– these things will become a pain to the real purposes of God that you have in your life.
May God protect you from being intimate with your sinful temptations or commitment to ministry or anything that takes you away from Jesus.
Realign your devotion back to the feet of Jesus.
Prayer:
Father I pray for every Abraham and Sarah that are listening to me, no more of compromising in our relationship with you. Lord I pray that you will realign us from the bed of the slave to the bed of our lover. We don’t want to spend time with the ones that enslaves us as much as we want to spend time at Your feet and in Your presence because that is where our Isaac’s, our destinies come to life. We thank You for what You are about to do, in the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen!
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
