Pray: “Come”

Mar 6, 2020 | Prayer

Revelation 22:17 HCSB
Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Anyone who hears should say, “Come!” And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift.

Everyday that God has given us, it is an opportunity to draw near to Him and experience Him in a new and personal way so that we can be renewed.

Here are few lessons that we learn from the Revelation 22:17:

1- The Spirit inspires you to pray

When you pray, it has to be something that the Holy Spirit is teaching you to pray. The bride is the church. If the bride’s prayer is not in sync with the prayer of the Holy Spirit then that is an ungodly prayer that will not get any response from Jesus, but when its synced with the Holy Spirt then it will revolutionise your life.

2- Your sensitivity to the voice of God will tell you what to pray

The second thing that should inspire you to pray is your ability to hear God. This is not only when you depend on the Holy Spirit but also when you read God’s word, or when your pastors speak, or even when God speaks through your situations, or through prophets. God is always speaking in and around you and your prayer has to be in sync with what God is speaking to you.

3- Your prayer should also involve the word “come”

The third point to notice is the topic of this prayer: where the bride is asking his beloved to come. This prayer was birthed as a result of the bride’s union with the Holy Spirit and her ability to hear. If all of your walking with the Holy Spirit and hearing in the prophetic is not making you pray a prayer that is increasing your intimacy with Jesus then there is something wrong about your relationship with the Holy Spirit, because the ultimate goal of the Holy Spirit is to help you grow in the intimacy and understanding of who Jesus is and make Himself manifest in every area of our lives.

4- You should also come to Him

The fourth thing, the verse says “..And the one who is thirsty should come..”. Now this is changing the subject from Jesus to you. The problem with majority of us christians is that we want God to draw near to us, but we would do nothing to draw near to Him. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to god and He will draw near to you.” If we are not willing to draw near to Him why do we expect Him to come closer to us?

5- You should take the living water as a gift

The last thing the verse says that if you have the hunger or thirst then you should take the living water as a gift.

The Lord is offering this living water as a gift to you this morning that will flow like a river which is going to redirect and renew you and it will be a gift to you.

So today begin your day with drawing near to Him and ask Him to come and fill your life.
