Sit Ye Here

Jun 18, 2019 | Prayer

Mark 14:32 KJV
And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and He saith to His disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

Begin this day with a firm realisation that we are dependant constantly on our relationship with God.

The disciples came to a place named Gethsemane along with Jesus and they were asked to sit in a place while He’d go to pray.

Jesus knew how to distance Himself from the disciples. The disciples were given to Jesus by the Father. Jesus walked with them three and a half years. Why do you think Jesus had to distance Himself?

Because, they were a source of comfort, support and help. Jesus did not want to rely on the disciples’ comfort but Heavens comfort.

There is nothing wrong about growing and living in the relationship with people around you. However, when we do that on the cost of our dependence and reliance on God’s ability, power and strength, that’s when our dependence on people becomes a crutch.

Can you try to identify these people or circumstances on whom you are depending except for God? Can you make an active practice of disconnecting from them and going a little further away and learning to depend exclusively on God?

Where there would be those prayers in your life which nobody but God would know, there would be desires and dreams you cherish and be vocal about nowhere but in the presence of God, there would be those moments of turmoil where you would open up nowhere but in the presence of God and you would learn to receive, be dependable and grow in your healing because of your relationship with God.

If we can effectively learn to do that and understand God is the source of all help and comfort, we would not be upset when people leave us or not be in favour of us.

When we depend on someone or something (like Jonah depended on the plant) than depending on Him, we start to murmur and complain and it ends up breaking us.

May you learn to separate yourself from that plant you are taking shade under and learn to depend exclusively on God and watch how He will provide everything you need.
