The Pathway to Blessing
Matthew 20:20 HCSB
“Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons approached Him with her sons. She knelt down to ask Him for something.”
Let us begin this day by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus! Let us remember that one prayer that we pray has the capacity to change our life! We usually think that the only response God would have to our prayers are either a yes or a no! We don’t seem to understand the perspective that most times that we pray, God would give us the pathway to reach the answer to that prayer!
Let me give you an example from the bible, this is Matthew 20:20: “Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons approached Him with her sons. She knelt down to ask Him for something.”
She got into a posture of prayer and worship to ask Jesus for something very important. We all know what her request was. She wanted her sons James and John to be seated at the left and right of Jesus when he would come back in his kingdom.
Jesus instead of giving a yes or no answer. He asks them if they can drink of the cup of suffering that he is about to drink from. He was basically giving them the pathway to reach the answer to prayer that they just prayed.
There is a process to reach the answer to the prayer that they just prayed. We often think that God should bless us, heal us or make us successful without us having to pray for it. We do that because we don’t understand the power of prayer.
The power of prayer is not limited to the answers or the blessings we would get from God, its also about receiving direction and instruction from God as to how to arrive there ourselves, when we hear the heart of God, the mind of God and understand his ways!
Its good that God would give us a quick answer to the questions we ask him. It is good that he gives us methods to become what we want to become. For example, if you want to become rich, ask God to give you a strategy and to teach you how to do it.
If you want to become a successful minister of the gospel, ask God to teach you how to get there. Ask God what you should do to sustain the anointing on your life! Don’t just ask God to make you an overnight success. The problem with quick blessings is that we may not have always gone through the process to grow up, and its very easy to fall back to being an overnight failure!
Someone who decides to workout and begin lifting heavy weights wouldn’t be able to do so immediately with heavy weights. You would have to start with one step at a time one, small weights to begin with! So that he is capable enough to sustain the heavy weight for a longer time!
That’s how God wants to help you grow. So don’t ignore or underestimate the power of your times of prayer. Make a practice to wait and listen to God’s heart and his voice every time you finish praying.
What you will hear may not always be in immediate yes or no, but surely will be a pathway to the blessing that you are praying and waiting on God for!
We hope that you will write to us and let us know how God spoke to you today. Have a blessed day ahead of you!
