Series: Overwhelming Victory

The Tribute
During King Ahab’s lifetime, the King of Moab used to give big tribute of 100,000 lambs and 100,000 rams to the King of Israel.

The Rebellion
As soon as King Ahab died, King Moab rebelled against the King of Israel and stopped paying tribute.

The Alliance
King Joram brought his army and spoke to the neighboring country of Judah to join them in battle. There was also a third nation that joined them, the nation of Edom.

The three kings
King of Israel, King of Judah, King of Edom – all sons of Issac, joined together in battle against the King of Moab.

A route through the wilderness
They took a route through the wilderness, and were are going into battle when they realized that they’re out of water. (Humans cannot exist without water, it is a basic essential) They got stuck and didn’t know what to do.

Prophet Elisha
So one of King Joram’s officers suggested ‘ there is a prophet here named Elisha who was Elijah’s personal assistant ‘ and King Jehoshaphat also agreed with the officer about going to speak with the prophet Elisha.

Elisha’s prophecy
They met prophet Elisha and Elisha was very upset with King Joram because of his wickedness and lifestyle which is unacceptable to God. But Elisha said ‘ because King Jehoshaphat is with you, I am going to give you a word from God ‘. (King Jehoshaphat really worshiped God, he was an honorable man)

Elisha’s said, ’Right now I do not have a word from the Lord but bring me somebody who can play the harp.‘ While the harp was being played, the power of the Lord came upon Elisha and he began prophesying.

– This is what Elisha prophesies
The dry valley will be filled with pools of water, you will see neither wind nor rain but this valley will be filled with water and you will have plenty for yourselves, for your cattle and for other animals.‘

Elisha goes on to say ‘This is not a simple thing, but for the Lord, this is a simple thing.

These people were struggling with dryness, they had no moisture, water.

Water represents the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, sometimes we go through wilderness in our lives because of our associations, the people that we walk with or live or travel with.

Jehoshaphat was a worshiper but he was travelling with two kings that did not care about the Lord, who did not care about His voice or His purpose for their lives and that brought Jehoshaphat into a place of dryness. But even in that dryness, because he was willing to yield to God, to worship even in the middle of that situation, the Word says ‘ The Lord released so much water that the entire place was filled with water and the next day when the enemy looked out, they saw the water but they thought it was blood, because of the sun shining on the water ‘.

They thought that there’s no way there can be water in this wilderness so they went out to attack and were surprised because the Kings were waiting to kill them and the Kings got complete victory over the land of Moab.

Let us yield to the presence of the Holy Spirit, surrender to His presence, obey Him and honor Him.

Proclaim and worship God through your dryness and wilderness!
