Series: Overwhelming Victory
It’s been a season of knowing and acknowledging the truth that we are more than conquerors in this world. According to Romans 8:37: “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, Who loved us”. What are the things that cause us to be defeated in the battles we face and cause us to be victims of the circumstances and situations we live in?
In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to travel from Egypt to the Promised Land. This symbolizes our life and how we need to fight many battles and face many opponents on a daily basis. We may think our opponent is our boss or the person we are having a conversation with. But most times, our opponents are not people.
In Ephesians Chapter 6, the Bible says we battle against spirits, principalities, powers, and rulers of the dark world. When we go out to fight and face armies and situations whose capacity and powers look more spectacular than our own, the Bible says do not be afraid because the God Who brought you out of Egypt is with you. God tells us to look into our past and remember that He is with us and He will give us courage.
In the above verse (Deuteronomy 20:1-4), not only did God speak of being with His people, but He said every time they went out into battle they were to get the priest to speak to them and tell them that He is with them. What was the reason for God to assure them this way?
The greatest challenge in our battles is lack of faith. When we don’t believe the right things, we lose our battles. Faith is cultivated when we listen to what God is telling us. The Bible says faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of God.
The enemy will try and disconnect you from the voice of God. He will make you spiritually dead and offer alternate sources of inspiration like going for brunch with friends instead of going to church. He may even convince you against reading your Bible by telling that you cannot hear from God. The day he convinces you that you are spiritually away from God, that very day you will start falling prey to the temptations of the enemy and your battles.
God doesn’t ask us to just believe that He is with us. He says to get the priest to regularly come and tell you before every battle that you don’t have to panic or give up or be upset, because this is a season for you to come out with overwhelming victory.
Make sure to take Bible reading seriously. Spiritual deafness can cause you to remain deaf. If you stop reading your Bible, there is no more faith being built up. If you are not being built up, you are being damaged. If you are not going further, you are sliding back.
We declare total and absolute victory over spiritual deafness and pray that you will begin to respond to the voice of God. We pray that there will be a release of Godly people around you who will continue to speak words of encouragement and victory that will help you walk into overwhelming victory.
