Series: Overwhelming Victory
This was a peculiar season in Israel when they did not have any blacksmiths at their disposal. The Philistines wouldn’t allow blacksmiths in the land of Israel, for fear that the blacksmiths would make spears for the Hebrews. So whenever the Israelites needed to sharpen their picks, axes or sickles, they had to take them to a Philistine blacksmith.
On the day of the battle, the Israelites were completely unprepared. They were willing to fight, they were willing to overcome and lay down their lives but they did not have the equipment or necessary finances, resources or tools to bring the enemy down.
Sometimes, this is one thing that affects our battles so much that we want to fight it out and go all out, but that is the time the enemy will steal that relationship, that he brings that problem or sickness or total change of atmosphere, everything comes at that very point when we decide to go all out into battle. The enemy tries to make sure we are unprepared.
It’s not about our qualification to fight the battle, nor our experience to do so, but it’s about our preparation to fight the battle. It’s a different thing if we’re not qualified or don’t feel we’re not adequate, but what we’re addressing is our unpreparedness, when God has said that it is in our destiny to do so.
The problem is not that battles come, but it is that we are unprepared when they come. If the problems come when we are prepared with the Word of God in our hands and we have the shield of Faith, the breastplate of Righteousness, the belt of Truth, the helmet of Salvation, the walk of Prayer, if we have all of these then there’s no reason to panic or be discouraged because we are going to come out victorious.
So let us always be on guard, be prepared at all times against any attack at any time from the enemy. Let us keep the necessary tools required to battle the enemy and come out with overwhelming victory!
