Series: Solomon’s Early Mistakes
God would like us to avoid few things in our lives. It’s the small compromises that cause destruction within us. While running a race, it’s the ones who are consistent that are rewarded.
This week we are going to study about few mistakes from the life of Solomon to learn and avoid doing them.
Solomon was the wisest king of Israel and was known for his proverbs. However, being the wisest and most favoured one, he was a victim of his emotions. Being driven by these emotions led him astray.
In our lives, it’s not about marrying an unbeliever, or the compromise we make which cause us to make mistakes. It is the issues of the heart.
Ponder: What are the things that we love, desire or are passionate about?
Are those the same things God has a passion for?
Solomon chose to love ‘many foreign women’. This was certainly not God’s plan for marriage. It was a choice he made, to run after beauty, gratify physical or sexual desires. Hence ‘loving many women’ became a problem in his life ahead.
Let’s not depend on our will-power to overcome these desires in our heart rather depend on God’s power (the Holy Spirit) and desire to do what pleases Him by asking Him to re-align our desires with His.
What are those places in your lives that is taking all the love away?
Inspect, sacrifice, abort them and turn your heart to the Lord today!
