Restore, Help & Rebuild

One of the best ways that we can prepare ourselves for what God has in store for us is by renewing ourselves from the inside out. It is necessary that we change our habits, our way of communication, and our lifestyles. Many times, we have these old sinful things that lurk around in the deep dark corners of our heart, and sometimes, it peeps out, and when it does peep out, it is so hurtful in every way. Let us be intentional to get rid of the old ways.
The Bible talks about David’s disastrous fall where he hurt his wife, family, and ultimately, the entire city of Jerusalem and the nation of Israel. We would think that David’s adultery was only harmful to him, but it actually harmed the entire nation.
In Psalm 51, we will find David repenting and asking for forgiveness and restoration, and after praying for himself, he prays in Psalms 51:18 “Look with favour on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.” This is David not just praying for himself, but he is praying for the consequences of his sin, mistakes, and rebellion.
David is in a season where he lost the favour because of his adultery, wicked planning and the murder of Uriah, and he also understands that he has lost the favour of God over Zion, and God is no longer helping them, and he is crying to the Lord to help rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
We understand that there are no physical walls of Jerusalem that came down with David’s sin, but in the spiritual realm, David saw and understood that the entire nation’s protection had come down because of one mistake that David did.
As a father, as a Pastor or as a business leader, our immoral or unethical activities can bring down the favour and the protective walls surrounding our house, church, and our company. Our actions have such a huge significance. Sometimes, we think that it is only about me and my mistake, but because of our authority over these places, it affects them too. Even, the revival of a nation can get delayed or tarries not, because the vessels that God want to use to send that revival are still not ready.
Can we pray this morning to ask God’s help to get rid of all old ways and sinful tendencies?
Prayer:
God, I pray that You would deliver me from evil, You will keep me out of temptations and lead me not into temptations we pray. This morning, we pray for repentance and forgiveness for those areas of our lives where we have offended You, God. We thank You for the healing, the restoration, and the blessing of the Lord that is coming upon not just our lives but on our cities, our churches, our nations that You would look with favour on Zion one more time that You would help her one more time, that You would rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Thank you for hearing our prayers, Daddy. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
