Asleep & Dead
Nahum 3:18
Your shepherds are asleep, O Assyrian king; your princes lie dead in the dust. Your people are scattered across the mountains with no one to gather them together.
So often we are so content with the titles and the positions we have, but forget that there is a world that needs the touch of God.
God is speaking to the Assyrian king as to why they will not have success, as their shepherds are sleeping where as they are the one’s that needs to keep a watch even at the night times.
Are you one of those shepherds? Do you know that God has given you a call? You are a shepherd over someone in your life, it may be your sibling, your family, your colleague or your friend that God has called you to be.
As children of God we have an identity of being sons and daughters of the King, however this identity would do no good if we are dead because of our sinful lifestyle.
The Lord is speaking a revival to all the shepherds and princes – to wake up and become attentive to the problems of the sheep that you are leading.
This is the season of revival for you. Everything that is scattered and spread completely away from you, it is going to come back to you.
Rise up from the sleep and the sinful lifestyle and start living for Jesus like never before, something great is about to come to you.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
