Joy in the City
Acts 8:7-8 NLT
Many evil spirits were cast out, screaming as they left their victims. And many who had been paralyzed or lame were healed.So there was great joy in that city.
As long as our rejoicing is connected to Jesus, we will always have a reason to celebrate.
In the previous podcast we saw that how our prayers will bring us joy, today we will see how the answered prayers will bring joy to the people around us.
The Bible says in Luke 15, where the shepherd finds the one lost sheep and brings it home and celebrates with his neighbours. Same way even the woman who loses her silver coin when she finds it, she calls her neighbours and celebrates with them. And the last parable which is about the father whose son comes back and he throws a huge party for his return.
May this year not only be a rejoicing for yourself, but also rejoicing for the people around you.
As christians we are not called to impact anything less that cities but nations and continents. This is the standard that God has called us for.
Because the disciples obeyed they were able to bring great joy in the city.
Today, believe and declare this over yourself that you will be a reason for bringing great joy in your city and nation. We are not suppose to just exist for each other but for the blessing of our city and nation.
Prayer:
Father, I pray and release this word that there will be great expectation for signs, wonders and miracles when we step out, when we minister to people and we have this eager anticipation and expectation that You will show up and as a result of it there will be a great joy and celebration in Your presence. I release this word over my family, friends, into their destiny and into their year ahead that not only they will bring joy to Your heart, not only they will be joyful for themselves, not only will their prayers be answered but their joy will overflow into their entire city. We declare this in the mighty name of Jesus.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
