2 Corinthians 12:14 GNT
“This is now the third time that I am ready to come to visit you—and I will not make any demands on you. It is you I want, not your money. After all, children should not have to provide for their parents, but parents should provide for their children.”
One of the signs of genuine revival is that people will experience an awakening in their discernment of real relationships. In the Old Testament, God said when Elijah comes he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the sons and the sons to the fathers. This restoration of relationship between fathers and sons is a mark of a true move of God. This is not only regarding physical parents but more specifically about spiritual parents and children.
When you see that the relationship with your spiritual parent is strengthening, you should know that you are about to enter into a season of revival.
In 2 Corinthians 12:14, Paul says that he does not want anything from his spiritual children when he visits them. He does not make any demands of them but says he wants them. This is the first sign of a genuine father or mother – one who is not after what you have but who is after who you are.
The Bible talks about giving to our leaders and spiritual parents yet Paul says in this verse that he is not going to make any demands of them because he is the father and the father has the responsibility of taking care of the children. If children sow into their fathers’ lives, it is not out of an obligation, rather out of a desire to bless them. Paul says that a true spiritual parent will not keep their children under obligation or try to benefit from them.
May God show you who your spiritual father or mother is. May you experience a revelation of the person that God wants you to submit to. May there be a revival in your relationship with your spiritual leaders and may everything that is fake be exposed and broken down. May God show you the one person who does not want what you have but who you are.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
