Rich in Unfailing Love
Nehemiah 9:17 NLT
They refused to obey and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they became stubborn and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them.
In today’s verse Nehemiah is remembering how God treated the rebellion of the Israelites when He brought them out from Egypt to the land of Canaan.
First when God gave them a commandment, they said they will obey, later when they became comfortable they refused to obey God and forgot all the miracles that God had done for them.
Often when we get comfortable or get distracted with our lives we tend to forget what God has already done in our lives and this leads to stubbornness.
In fact because of this stubbornness, the Israelites appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt.
The moment you rebel against God, that will immediately lead you to your rebellion against the leaders that are appointed over your lives and make you appoint a kind of leader that will take you back into the slavery.
But Nehemiah says even though they rebelled against Him, He is a God of compassion, slow to anger, merciful and forgiving. God didn’t abandon them.
This is what God did to them when they didn’t had a revelation of the cross of Jesus. If this kind of redemption is available in the old testament how much more can God do the same for you today.
No matter how hard your heat is become now, God is a god of forgiveness, He is merciful and He is going to revive you.
Even when you forsake Him, He will not forsake you.

Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
