Luke 1 talks about how John the Baptist was supposed to be a man in the Spirit and the power of Elijah, how he was called to bring revival in his generation. Also, about his being anointed and filled in the Holy Spirit.
- Luke 1:41 says ‘ At the sound of Mary’s greeting…’
– Who was Mary ?
Mary was the one who carried Jesus in her, the one who was surrendered to God, the one who believed in the voice of God, believed in the Angel who said that she was going to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit, Mary was a surrendered vessel.
– Mary was instrumental in John the Baptist’s revival. - Luke 1:41 further says ‘ At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ‘
– During the entire lifetime of John the Baptist, we see the manifestation of how a life that was filled in the Holy Spirit even before his birth, actually gave way to such an amazing expression of God’s love and presence over his people, for the next 30 years.
– The reason this happened was because of that one tiny greeting from a lady, from a young girl in fact, who carried Jesus. - On the outside, it didn’t look like a revival, it just looked like the baby leaped but that is where the revival was born, because that is where John the Baptist was filled in the power of the Holy Spirit.
- We don’t have to speak a profound sermon or be in a high position to bring revival. All we need to be is a Mary who will carry Jesus and be surrendered to God, trusting Him to bring a revival that will change the face of our generation
When we speak a word of hope, blessing and encouragement, it can give birth to a revival movement. Let’s pray that each one of us will carry that voice, sound and inspiration that will birth a John the Baptist revival in our generation.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
