Treaty or Trust?
1 Kings 15:18-19 MSG
[18-19] Asa took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of The Temple of God and the royal palace, gave it to his servants, and sent them to Ben-Hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus, with this message: “Let’s make a treaty like the one between our fathers. I’m showing my good faith with this gift of silver and gold. Break your deal with Baasha king of Israel so he’ll quit fighting against me.”

Scenario: A big fight is going on between the King of Israel and King of Judah.
During this battle, King of Israel has ten tribes under him and King of Judah has two. What Baasha does is, he lays a siege around Jerusalem blocking the trade route causing Judah to be in famine. Then King Asa comes up with a solution and takes all the silver and gold from the Temple of God and sends it to the King of Aram to make a treaty with his enemy so he can be saved.
Many a times we face this kind of opportunity. Even Jesus faced this when the devil was tempting Him to obey him.
If you read the story of King Asa, you would know that God was so displeased with him because God wanted him to put his trust on God than his enemies.
Are we continuing to put our trust in God or are we continuing to make treaty with our enemy? The challenge with making treaty with your enemy is that it will never end. We don’t see the complete picture. It continues to take us from wickedness to wickedness. It will not take you any closer to God or our victories. It will only take you deeper into the trap of the plans that the enemy has to kill, steal and destroy.
Question:
How difficult it is for you to give up on your treaty with the enemy and instead begin to trust God?
Faith sometimes gets difficult, but testing God should be the easiest thing that a child of God should be able to do, because;
1. You believe the bible
2. The Holy Spirit lives inside you, giving you all the power and the ability required for you to trust God.
The bible says in Proverbs 28, that the trusting in the Lord will lead you to prosperity. One of the reason we live in poverty, debt and in lack is because we trust in our own credit cards, our own income, our strength and power instead of trusting God.
The bible says, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and He will make sure that your paths succeeds. This is the only key to success in the kingdom of God that you trust in Him alone 100% and you will prosper and you will grow.
Stop making alliance with the enemy else you will end up giving all the offering to him for nothing. King Asa used up all the offering and gave it to the enemy to make peace. This is what happens, that we end up offering the things that we were suppose to give it to God.
We pray and hope that this will not be your story. You story will be a story of trusting and obeying God alone all the days of your lives.
