Wake up, Sleeper!
Ephesians 5:14 GNT
“for anything that is clearly revealed becomes light. That is why it is said, “Wake up, sleeper, and rise from death, and Christ will shine on you.””
Let’s ask God the grace to be alert, to be on guard and to be active. Most of the time we lose opportunities, our victories, our blessings just because we were passive & not active of what God was constantly doing in our lives. That passiveness causes most of the damages & challenges our way. But God wants to send a revival our way.
God will always send a word ahead of Him.
In Ephesians 5:14, Apostle Paul is saying,
⁃ not to keep our struggles, in fact to bring it to the light.
⁃ Expose it to the light
⁃ Anytime you keep your struggles in hiding, bring it to the light so God’s light can fall upon it.
The same struggles, the same challenges, the same financial struggles you thought could become our downfall, can in fact become your testimonies when you expose it to light.
We cannot expect God to give us victory if we are not willing to render our failures to Him. Share on XWe cannot expect to be healed of blindness unless we’re first willing to accept that we’re blind.
The story of the blindman who came to Jesus, and Jesus asked Him ‘what do you want me to do?’. Jesus wanted to see if the man would acknowledge his issue, accept his issue and bring it up to Jesus. Then Jesus healed him saying ‘be it unto you according to your faith.’
Ephesians 5:14 is a prophetic word over every heart that is sleeping. God doesn’t see your sleeping as a temporary nap, God sees it as equivalent to death.
When we become stagnant, stop growing, stop multiplying, take a break from walking with God, become lazy, take a break from serving God, we might think it’s temporary and we are just resting or sleeping, but God says ‘come back from your death.’
When you rise, Christ will shine on you.
Don’t say, ‘if only God can send me the breakthrough or if only God can send me to revival, then things won’t be the same.’ No, that’s not God’s way of functioning. God wants you to rise up first, you to wake up first, get out of your dead situations, then the light of God will fall upon you first and then His light will shine upon you.
Don’t be a sleeper in your situation, arise from your death.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
