When Facing Death
Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. – Revelation 2:10

Transcript:The Lord is working very closely with you, on your character, on your choices, on your responses, and on the decisions that you make. Every day we have opportunities to respond in a way that glorifies God or in a way that devalues His presence in our lives. If we make the right responses to the world around us, it’s not going to be easy all the time; there will be days when we are celebrated for our choices and days when we may have to face problems, or death or eternal consequences. I hope that you still make the right choices in the midst of all those circumstances.
Jesus speaks to the church in Revelation 2:10,
“Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for 10 days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.”
There are some kinds of sufferings that one shouldn’t be afraid of. Many times one suffers because of his/her own foolishness and mistakes which one doesn’t have to continue to allow in his/her lives.
However, there are some sufferings that one goes through because of the name of Jesus and because of his/her loyalty to Him; one shouldn’t be afraid of these. The verse says, ‘The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you’; it is not God but the devil who does this. It is to test people of God and see if they really love God and if the commitment they have towards God can stand the test of time.
If one wants to serve God, they are going to be thrown into prison. Even Jesus was tempted and tried but He was able to overcome it because He walked in accordance to His Father’s will for His life. We can overcome too, if we walk with Jesus and abide in Him and be connected to Him daily. Don’t be afraid says the Lord.
The Lord also tells in the above verse how long they were going to suffer. There is always a limitation to how much the enemy can test us or put us in torture or scarcity. Whenever the Lord allows the enemy to enter in and hurt His people, there’s always a boundary. In Job’s example, it can be seen that the Lord allowed the devil to test him but there was a limit to it, he couldn’t take Job’s life.
Trust the Lord in the difficult seasons of life and know that you will suffer only within the boundaries that God has set. Share on X
Finally the verse says, ‘But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life’. Most of us may not be tested to the point of death but will we be faithful in small and big things? Many of us wait for some catastrophic incident to happen to be faithful to God but how can we be faithful in big things if we aren’t faithful in the little things? Today God is calling our hearts back to faithfulness and says, ‘if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life’.
This crown of life is waiting in heaven for those whose who overcome and are faithful.
So the Lord wants to tell you today to not be afraid and that this season is only a test with a limitation to how much the devil can hurt you, and He expects you to be faithful even when facing death.
