We Will Be Satisfied

John 14:8 (NLT)
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”

Transcript:

Every time we yield to the Lord, submit and surrender to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we are setting up ourselves for fresh revelations, fresh satisfaction and contentment of our spirit.  In John 14:8, we can see that Philip (disciple) is not understanding the fact that Jesus is the way to the Father, Jesus is the truth about the Father, Jesus carries the life of the Father. In fact, anybody who has seen Jesus, has already seen the Father.  He does not understand the truth, yet he got the fundamentals correct. Here, Phillip is praying the right thing, he says one encounter with the father, one glimpse of his love; that is enough to satisfy him. Do we have the same desire?

Please remember, a relationship with the Father is impossible without a relationship with Jesus, without a faith in the person, in the work of Jesus and a relationship without yielding to the Holy Spirit.  It is the Holy Spirit, who convicts and prepares us with a relationship with God the Father through Christ Jesus, the son, and that is why the prayer that Philip made is relevant, because now, he would have a relationship with Jesus, an encounter with the Holy Spirit.  If you see John 14, 15 and 16, Jesus begins to introduce them to the Holy Spirit, the one who is going to lead these guys into all truth.

How did all these conversations come about?  With one prayer that Philip made – “show us the Father and we will be satisfied.” Today, let us desire for a satisfaction, a contentment, in our relationship with God, to an extent, we don’t care about anything else in life. In fact, we shall be first satisfied in him, before we overflow in that satisfaction, and experience greater joy in our relationships, ministry, career, businesses, all that we do has to be an overflow or outcome that we find in our understanding of the Father.  If our marriage is an overflow of love received from the Father, if our businesses or careers are an overflow of the revelation of the love of the Father.  If our prayers, service, is an overflow of the contentment we received from the father, rest assured, it will reap eternal results and fruits, because we are not expecting any of these areas in our life to satisfy us, because, we are overflowing with love and grace God has already filled us with and now, all these environments we go into, will receive from us.  We are not going there, so that they will satisfy us, we are going there because we can be a blessing, we can serve them and pour into them what God has poured into us.
