A Lifestyle of Worship
Genesis 4:3-5 NLT
When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the LORD. Abel also brought a gift—the best of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The LORD accepted Abel and his gift, but He did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.

We have been learning on worship this week. Today we will look into the story of Cain and Abel, about the offering that they brought to God, where Cain’s offering was rejected and Abel’s offering was accepted.
So many times we wonder as to why our worship is not making any difference in our life. One of the reason may be our heart. The state of our heart matters.
When God looks down on us, even before He sees your worship, what He sees is our life.
Worship is something that has to begin in our heart not in our words, our songs or our offerings. It has to begin through our purity and gentleness of our heart.
God had set a pattern of worship in the beginning itself by sacrificing an animal. When Adam and Eve sinned He cut a lamb and made clothing for them, this is how God had taught them to worship. Cain failed in this, first by not sacrificing an animal, and neither he brought the best of his gifts nor his heart was right. This is what brought God’s anger because of his dishonour towards God.
Hope that our story will be different. As it says in Romans 12:1 to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, our lifestyle will be a pleasing aroma to God.
The more you offer your life as a living sacrifice the more you will see that it will bring divine favor and attention in everything you do.
