Fix Your Attention on God

Aug 9, 2018 | Worship

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

1. If we could embrace what God does for us and if we believe that it is the best thing that we can experience, and when we respond back by laying down our life to Him and when we say whether we walk, talk, eat, sleep, go to work, this is going to be an offering for God.

2. Sometimes we can be happy and comfortable, because of the pattern, behaviour and lifestyle. The culture that we live in today is very degrading, it is a godless culture, not a culture which respects the kingdom of heaven and the word of God and not a culture what God wants to do in our life. So how do we cope up with that?

We need to fix our eyes on God, if we choose to ignore our culture and upbringing and recognise His will for us, then our life will be successful. As long as we concentrate on ourselves then our life will only be about us.

3. Our life will become a worship, an offering to God when we live our life on His terms, for His glory, for His honour, that is when we really begin to mature.

Matured Christians are not the ones who give best tithes, or come to church on time but the ones who realise that they are not the centre of God’s universe but it’s God who is the centre of their universe. The entire world revolves around God and not us revolving around God.

What is it that takes precedence? Is it your family or friends? Make God the centre of everything. We need to choose to fix our attention on God by reading the word of God, worshipping, praying in tongues, talking to God wherever we are and see what God wants to reveal to us. In this way we will see our spiritual maturity grow to the next level.

Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.

The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.

God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.

The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
