Gods that Lead Us
Listen
Transcript:
God is looking for an expression of our love for Him. Every time we withhold our love for Him or keep back our worship, we stop worshipping God and automatically we will start admiring other things. We will form idols and crave to run after other tangible things. This is the exact thing the Israelites experienced in the above verse. They made an idol, sacrificed and worshipped it, then God turned away from them, abandoning them to serve the stars of the heavens as their gods.
Moses was the representation of God to these Israelites, the man they would go to for answers and solutions. Today, Jesus is our Moses, our high priest, the image of God the Father, living within us.
Now, when we do not go to Jesus, we lose our vision of who Jesus is and we will end up worshipping idols.Since the time we have committed sin in the garden of Eden, we’ve been followers and not leaders, but when God created us, He meant for us to be leaders. That is why God said, “let them have dominion over the whole world”. As followers, the Israelites asked for a god they could follow. Our gaze needs to always be on God, if not our gaze would turn to other material things or idols of the world which would enslave us.
We are not to be enslaved by the environment and the world we live in, but God’s plan is for us to have dominion and control over our surroundings
God told Moses that He was going to raise up another prophet like Moses, who will provide salvation for the entire world. That is none other than Jesus, our Lord and saviour. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus for He is the one who brings us encounters with the Father, He is the one whom if we can submit to and allow to have lordship over us, then we would never be led by idols or the world around us.
If our gaze is turned away from the one true God, it will automatically turn to other gods we’ve created for ourselves. Share on XMay our gaze always be fixed on Jesus!
