Hindering My Worship

Nov 11, 2019 | Worship

1 Samuel 15:30 KJV
Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord thy God.

In this context, King Saul asks Samuel to stand with him. Samuel just corrected himself and confessed his wrong doings to King Saul and that he was not willing to worship with him. King Saul questioned Samuel of how he will be able to do this without him standing beside and of how he will be able to face all the elders. King Saul’s worship was a performance depicting that he loved God but he did not truly show himself to God.

There are several factors that interfere our worship to God. The biggest challenge we all face in our worship is ourselves. Worship requires us to merely focus on God and not any other idols. We idolize our own selves and we are not willing to let go of our dreams and desires to worship God. This creates a hindrance in your worship as things don’t go you way.

Let our worship to God not only be for those seasons of life when things are favourable. It’s not worship but flattering. When you worship God when things don’t make sense or not in your way, it shows that you’re a true lover and faithful child of God.

The unwillingness of Saul to be real and acknowledgement of his failure, he lost favour with God permanently. He asked Samuel to stay to save himself from the people. The idol in Saul’s life was people’s honour and appreciation which was the hindrance of Saul worshipping God.

Let us lay down our idols, altars and mainly ourselves and pray that let nothing stand in the way of our worship.
