Rich in Good Works

Jun 28, 2019 | Worship

1 Timothy 6:17-18 NLT
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

Series: Cheerful Giving

God loves and celebrates a cheerful giver, who gives in order to respect and glorify Him.

This is an important principle on which we can base our spending patterns. If we are financially comfortable and our needs are being taken care of every month, we may fall into a temptation of being proud and trusting in our money.

We tend to rely on money and savings when in need, instead of looking to God. That is an unwise way to spend money.

The Bible is speaking about rich people when it says “their trust” in the verse 1 Timothy 6:17-18. Don’t trust in money, trust in God. He is our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider in every circumstance.

Use your money to do good and be rich in good works. We need to be able to translate our money into rich and generous work, and be willing to share things that our exclusively ours.

God is expecting us to keep our eyes open at all times for people we can support and bless by our good work.

Model real Christian generosity in your lives i.e., sharing, being rich in good works and being generous to those in need.

Don’t limit your giving to church offerings alone. Use every opportunity to do something good and help someone in need.

May God help you live a life that is completely surrendered and willing to give cheerfully. Write to us and let us know how this week’s series on ‘Cheerful Giving’  has blessed you!
