Satisfied in HIM
Psalms 63:1 KJV
“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;”
Let our prayer and hunger be that we become more desperate for God. That is the purpose of each and every one of us who call ourselves children of God.
The more we go after Him, the more we become like Him, because we are constantly being made one with Him.
In Psalms 63:1, David is confessing that God is the one who’s going to feed, fill his thirst, protect and direct him. This was a season in David’s life when he was wandering in the wilderness when he had no direction, provision, or help. What we would also naturally pray for in that season is water, fresh pair of clothes, for help etc. We would look for practical solutions but David prayed that what he truly needed was God in a land with no water, food, people or money.
That is the best expression of worship towards God.
When Jesus was in the wilderness, the reason the devil tempted Him by asking to turn stones into bread to eat, is not because eating by turning stones into bread was a sin, but because the devil wanted just to get Him to depend and rely more on physical food than His need for God’s voice.
Jesus was fasting so He could receive from God and be in sync with Him.
We in the same way need to bring our immediate physical need to Him but trust in Him and run after Him, not run after the need or the solution. We need to fill our vacuum with God.
John Piper said ‘God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him‘.
Nothing satisfies God more than knowing we get contentment and joy in no other place but in Him. This way we are worshipping and glorifying God.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
