To the Verge of Ruin
Acts 19:27 HCSB
“So not only do we run a risk that our business may be discredited, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be despised and her magnificence come to the verge of ruin — the very one all of Asia and the world adore.””
There are several things that we can do to bring glory to God. Not just by worshiping and praying but we can bring glory to God by preaching the gospel as well. We will see this in the life of Paul.
In Acts 19:27, a business man who used to make idols complaints against Paul that because of his missionary and journey, his idol making business has no profit.
Paul was just sharing about who the one true God is. This changed the perspective of the people who listened to him and stopped worshipping the idols and hence it became a threat to the business people who made idols.
If your worship to God is not becoming a threat to people, then we need to check if our worship towards Him is complete or not.
Our worship and serving God is not limited to church. If it doesn’t impact the world around us, then our worship is not true. God is looking for people who would worship Him in truth and in the spirit.
Today ask yourselves as to where your worship is lacking.
One of the great encouragement in the book of Psalms is not just worship or praising God but you would see this repeatedly written to tell others how good and glorious our God is. And when you do this, that is when people will truly experience a freedom to worship God.
Your worship isn’t complete if it is not creating enemies for you.
Check your heart today and see what you can do to take your worship to the next level.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
