Disconnect from Defilement

Today, let us start by remembering and renewing our identity in Christ. We are the sons and daughters in Lord, we have an inheritance, we are immensely loved and pursued by God, we were chosen before the foundations of this world were laid.

But sometimes, we are unaware of our identity, our purpose and our true responsibilities as children of God that we entangle ourselves in destructive activities and toxic patterns.

The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God but the things that we can say yes too can bring damage to our relationship with the Father and His plans for our lives.

The Bible talks about Reuben who lost his birthright because he defiled his father’s bed. He was still apart of his family, he enjoyed Canaan but he lost his favour as the first born son because he compromised on purity and dishonored values.

Esau has the same history as Reuben. He gave up his permanent birthright and blessings for a temporary stomach satisfying hot soup. Easu even desparately cried for get back his birthright. Yes he was still a son, yes his father still blessed him but Esau lost his favour and he could never become what Jacob became.

Let me encourage you dear friends to check your heart this morning , check every area of your live if you have been dishonouring God, your spiritual parents, your earthly parents, your community in anyway.

Try to intentionally disconnect from anything that brings damage in your relationship with your Father. As you do that, i pray that God will pour out His glorious grace over you.
