Already Received Promises

But Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham. And Melchizedek placed a blessing upon Abraham, the one who had already received the promises of God.

– Hebrews 7:6 NLT

Transcript:

So often, we have blessings being spoken over lives day in and day out and yet things do not seem to be changing in any areas of our lives. What are the things that are missing in our lives because of which we do not seem to receive blessing and promises from the Lord?

In Hebrews 7:6, we see Abraham met Melchizedek, king of Salem, on his way back from a war he had already won and received amazing spoils from this war. Melchizedek brought food and water and he nourished and refreshed Abraham. Abraham’s heart was so moved, and he decided to give one-tenth of everything that he had to this man of God. When Melchizedek received this one-tenth, he placed a blessing upon Abraham.

God had already given His promises to Abraham and still when Abraham saw somebody else who had also a blessing, promise, and glory upon his life, he wanted to honor him. Melchizedek blessed Abraham in spite of the promises that he had received from God. In other words, Melchizedek was not the carrier of the promises of God to Abraham and yet that one principle that Abraham activated is that of the giving of tithe/one-tenth which made it easier for Abraham to reach to his place of promise.

Many of us have promises from God but we are not doing anything to honor the people that God has placed around us and we are not activating the divine principles and protocols in different areas of our life to move the heart of God.

My prayer is that in this season the Lord will just open your eyes to see all those areas where you have made it hard for those promises of God over your life to come to pass and to also know and understand the one thing that you need to change today so that there will be an acceleration from your present place to your future place of promises.

You have to take active constant steps that will take you closer and that will accelerate your journey towards the promises that God has made over your life.

Feel For Him

Acts 17:27 (GNT)
He did this so that they would look for him, and perhaps find him as they felt around for him. Yet God is actually not far from any one of us.

Lock the Door

Matthew 23:13 (GNT)
““How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You lock the door to the Kingdom of heaven in people’s faces, but you yourselves don’t go in, nor do you allow in those who are trying to enter!”

Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.

The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.

God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.

The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
