Credit for Blessing

Transcript:
In Genesis 14:23, Abraham was speaking to the King of Sodom, and he says “I will not take a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you.” Otherwise you might say, “I am the one who made Abraham rich.” This is Abraham’s confession before a pagan king who wanted to bless him.
Most of us are working in corporates where majority of the time it is the unbelievers who are paying us salaries for our work. In this particular context, it was a give and take relationship because Abraham had just fought a battle for the King of Sodom, and he had rescued him, so it was right for the King of Sodom to pay for Abraham’s work and the resources that he put into the battle, but Abraham refused it.
It will be impractical to apply the same physical principle in our lives and say no to all kinds of income from unbelievers. God has a way of blessing us and taking care of our needs through the work places that we are committed to, and yet, we need to understand a deeper principle from Abraham that “I am not going to give the credit for my riches, my provision, and my blessings to this pagan king,”
We do not mind taking the wages for our work and yet the credit of our blessings, riches, promotions, greatness will not go to our hard work but it will always go to the Kings of kings and the Lord of lords, the Maker and the Possessor of heaven and earth in Whose name we are blessed and Who is providing for us.
We can realign this perspective in our own hedge before we say this to somebody else in such a way that we give credit and glory to God. Can we have the mental shift in our own minds where we believe that our blessings and the source of all our fountains is in God and in His presence?
If we can go deeper into His presence, then we can comeback with great amount of success, glory and glamour in our lives that we have never seen or heard before. It is our ability to submit ourselves to God’s plans and purposes that defines how much of a blessing we are to our city, church and nation.
Let us not give credit to anyone or anything but to the Kings of kings and the Lord of lords, It is because of Him that we are blessed, equipped, empowered and such a lifestyle will eventually make us true worshippers of God.
