Investigative Intercession

One of the signs of nearness to God is that we will catch what is in the heart of God and the heart of God is all about the salvation of people, redemption of mankind and nations coming to the light of Jesus. Today if we really believe that we are getting closer to God then it should manifest in the ways that we increasingly become passionate for the things of God and about the place that we live in. It is not just about how we are physically or geographically placed but about where we have clients as nations. As children of God we have the right to hold onto those nations when we go to God in prayer and use the influence that God has given us to become the light and salt in that land.

In todays scripture, it shows a prayer we can re-echo if we are said to be passionate about our nation. Something key in understanding intercession is that we are not just fighting against the principality that has risen up in the last week and that is why an intercessor with spiritual intelligence will read up on that land and ask for discernment on the root cause of things happening in their city and nation and after doing this and locating the issue, bring it before God asking him to forgive the sins of our fore fathers.

Our repentance may not necessarily save their souls but may undo the effect of their decisions, overturn certain negativity that have been put in place or compromises that have been put in public eye and when we bring it to God we can ask him for his hand one more time. He is inviting God to come not because of our good works but because of his compassion.

What areas have God given us a passion and a burden for? For instance if we are praying for a nation, let us take passion and ask God for a revival in that nation. Some may have burden for the educational sector and some may be praying for revival among the community of influencers in our nations. It is very easy to stand from outside and judge those who are doing wrong but today the Lord is encouraging us to take ownership. Like Abraham did, instead of asking God to punish them, it is better to ask God to allow them have a changed heart. Let us pray this in oneness of heart and we will see the greatest move and Dunamis of God unleashed in our city and nation. 

Prayer: Father we position ourselves to be intercessors, people who will stand in the gap for their nation. We will be people who will build an hedge around our city and nation. Praying that a grace for supplication and intercession come upon everyone. We thank you Holy Spirit for your presence. And that you are the one who teaches us how to pray effectively. In Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
