Respect the Discipline

by | Correction, Podcast

Hebrews 12:9 (ERV)

“We have all had fathers here on earth who corrected us with discipline. And we respected them. So it is even more important that we accept discipline from the Father of our spirits. If we do this, we will have life.”

Transcript:

In our journey of walking with God, he is constantly giving us new opportunities to get better and be a representation of his heart. And in this process, God will always correct and rebuke us and sometimes even discipline us. When God disciplines us, we become more like him. It is never intended to bring separation or hurt.
Our earthly parents have corrected and disciplined us in the natural order. It includes boundaries which may look like restrictions sometimes. We submit to the discipline of our parents and respect them. The Bible says, it is even more important to submit and respect the discipline of our Father in heaven. He is the one who is constantly protecting and guarding us to make sure that we are growing into his image. We need to celebrate and respect the discipline of our Father more than our earthly parents. Earthly parents are used by God to bring us on this earth and yet they are not our creators. They cannot sustain our life. We should respect the boundaries and restrictions that our Father has put around us and stay within them. Because when we receive his discipline, we will have eternal life!
