Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. – Ephesians 6:7 NLT

Transcript:

So often, we limit our understanding of how to please God only to those times that we are in church or with people that believe in the Lord; however, if you read the scripture, the Lord wants us to be worshiping and serving Him even when we are dealing with the people of the world and our secular work.

We think that the secular work has got nothing to do with our spirituality, but the Bible says in Ephesians 6:7 to work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. When we lose our enthusiasm for our work just because of the challenges and relationship issues with our superiors and colleagues, it is absolutely ungodly. It is unbecoming of a child of God to be working like it’s drudgery. Most often, our superiors at work are not there to necessarily care for our personal preferences.

Ephesians 6 in fact is talking about slaves who did not get salary working for their masters who owned them completely, and except for the food, they cannot expect any privileges or provisions in their life. Apostle Paul was asking them to work with all enthusiasm, because they are not working for people but for the Lord.

Bible says when you work with enthusiasm, then, in fact, you are not just serving people but working for the Lord and serving Him. This is true not just for people that work in the church but also for people who work in different types of environment.

The world around us especially in Indian culture call work is worship, but the Bible says work in itself is not worship but when you work you should work as if you are going to worship and serve God and bring honour and glory to God. If you apply these instructions into your attitude and behaviour, then you would not be cribbing or complaining about most of the things in your work places.

If the Lord leads you into a better position and opportunities, then take it with all gratitude and go for it but do not do so because you are discontent with your current pay scale or work environment, otherwise the Lord wants you to work where you are placed right now with enthusiasm as you are serving the Lord and not for people.

Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.

The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.

God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.

The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
