An Exclusive Trust

“What did they see in your palace?” asked Isaiah. “They saw everything,” Hezekiah replied. “I showed them everything I own—all my royal treasuries.” – Isaiah 39:4
Transcript:

The Babylonians had come to make an alliance with King Hezekiah. They were a big nation. Here the king seems to want to please them and make an alliance with them.

He became vulnerable before them because he wanted their favour and support, and he exposed everything he owns to them.

There is hardly any help gained free of cost. There’s always a price to be paid in the end. Believing that people are all kind and good can make us trusting enemies.

Throughout history, Babylonians have been enemies of Israel. They caused the destruction of the entire nation of Israel and Judah along with having their temple and its precious things desecrated.

All this began at this point where Hezekiah allowed the Babylonians to see and have access to every aspect of the nation’s treasury.

How much do we depend on the Lord? Do we trust others along with Him?

Hezekiah was not an idolater or an immoral person. God used Him to revive the nation. But he at one point began, along with trusting God, trusting in people- in princes, chariots, and earthly wisdom, treasure, and understanding.

This turned out to be evil not just for him, but for the generations to come.

Let your trust be exclusive to God. That does not mean you keep away from people or don’t get good counsel. It just means let your trust be in Him because where your trust is where you’re vulnerable- exposed and accessible.

The place of trust is the place of vulnerability, exposure & accessibility. Share on X

If the world is given access to this trust whether friend or family, that access can turn into a curse. It can cause tremendous enslavement to that person.

As the enemy’s trap has been exposed, let God alone have exclusive access to your trust.
